Tomorrow, the Sanford Schools Legacy Foundation will host a ceremony honoring Brian Flanagan, a beloved man who left an incredible legacy of care, passion, and dedication as a Sanford teacher and coach. A bridge built by SRTC students will be dedicated in his honor tomorrow, September 17th at 2:30 PM, next to the tennis courts at Sanford High School. The community is invited to attend. This summer, the Sanford School Department begun hosting Transition to Kindergarten Play & Learn, a series of free playgroups where incoming pre-k and kindergarten children and their parents/guardians visited their new school, met staff and administrators, and established relationships with other students and families.

One of the best things about working in the Student Support Room is to have a chance to meet so many of our Pride students. When I first started working in the SSR, student numbers were very low due to the small size room that was being used for operating the SSR. Today, it has become very common for 4 to 6 students to be in the room at the same time, and there have been days where 8 students were in the room together. Having multi-grade level students at the same time has also been a rewarding experience. Watching how our older and younger students interact around each other can be very enlightening, and I have had a chance to see the softer side of many of our older students who are very kind towards our younger students. Our Pride students ROCK!
Experiences like these bring classroom learning to life and open young minds to the many incredible career paths right here in our community. A huge thank you to Moody's Collision & Auto Body Repair and Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport for welcoming our students and giving them an unforgettable morning.
Staff took a moment to recognize the parents, former employees, Sanford High School and Middle School students, PTA members, and mentorship program participants who dedicate their time and talents to the school .
What an amazing evening of fun, games, food, and giveaways! It was so wonderful to see so many Pre-K through 4th grade students and families come out to support their literacy and math skills.
