Dear parents and guardians,
Every school day is a chance for your child to learn, connect with friends, and discover something they're good at. Being at school on time and for the full day helps them build a sense of confidence and belonging as part of their school community.
That's why your child's presence matters—and why families play such an important role in building strong attendance habits. This year, we're joining schools across the country in the 2026 Attendance Awareness Campaign, themed "Your Presence Matters!"
As we work together to help your child make the most of their school day, here’s how you can help:
Build a consistent morning routine to help your child arrive on time each day. Those morning minutes add up!
Plan for the full school day. Staying through dismissal helps your child engage fully.
Schedule appointments and vacations outside of school hours whenever possible.
Reach out early if illness, transportation, or other challenges are making it difficult for your child to attend regularly.
Ask questions. If you're ever unsure whether your child should stay home, we’re happy to help.
Celebrate showing up. Recognize your child’s effort and participation - not just their grades.
We also want to help make mornings a little easier. Breakfast is free for all students, so your child can start their day with a good meal at school. Please plan your morning arrival accordingly:
Elementary Schools: Arrive by 8:25 AM – 3:00 PM
Sanford Middle School: Arrive by 7:35 AM – 2:10 PM
Sanford High School: Arrive by 7:45 AM – 2:20 PM
Bridge: Arrive by 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
But life doesn't always work on our schedule. We recognize that every child and every family is different, with unique needs and circumstances. If something is making it hard for your child to attend regularly, please reach out to your child's teacher, school counselor, or the front office. We're ready to help, whether that means connecting you with resources, adjusting a schedule, or problem-solving together.
Because attendance isn't just about being in a building, it's about being there for the moments that help your child grow, connect, and thrive.
