Last week, 23 JMG 8th-grade students had the opportunity to attend the Maine Youth Action Network's Leadership Summit.
The summit is a two-day event where students can discuss social issues that are important to them with youth from around the state.
They also network with state-wide nonprofits that address these issues, allowing them to partner with these organizations and bring more resources to SMS.
Sanford Middle School JMG Specialist Tara Houle was so proud of their ability to connect with other students and nonprofit organizations.
Projects and work around mental health, civil rights, and substance use are already being worked on by our students due to their conversations at the conference.
