Last week, Sanford Regional Technical Center hosted its annual Celebrating Partnerships event, and it was a great night! Local business partners, educators, and students came together to celebrate all the amazing things that happen when community and education work hand in hand.
One of the highlights of the evening was a student panel where some of SRTC's own shared what their programs and internships have meant to them.
The night was topped off with food prepared by SRTC's Culinary students and floral centerpieces from the Agriculture program. It really was a full school effort. Read more about it here! https://www.sanford.org/article/2783061

Mrs. Hally's Title literacy students at Margaret Chase Smith had a reading challenge this March for a chance to earn lunch with Mrs. Hallissey and Ms. McGuckin, and they absolutely crushed it.
First and second graders set out to read 100 books this month. First grade finished with 121 books and second grade came in at 124. Way to go, readers!
Third and fourth graders had a different challenge: read for 20 minutes a day, 50 times total throughout March. Third grade hit 64 sessions and fourth grade came in at 62. Both grades blew past their goals!
To celebrate, students got to enjoy lunch together and play games while sharing their favorite books.

Sanford Middle School had its first ever Unified Basketball game against Massabesic yesterday and it was a great turnout! Thank you to all who made this happen.

Something really cool is happening in Mrs. LaPointe's 4th grade class at Carl J. Lamb Elementary! Students have been learning to code using Micro: Bits, small computers that bring their code to life with lights, sounds, buttons, and sensors.
Through this hands-on experience, kids are building problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking skills while learning how technology actually works. The goal is simple but powerful: we want our students to be creators of technology, not just users of it.

Sanford Middle School recently welcomed Boomer, the beloved mascot of the Sanford Mainers, for special assemblies with 5th and 6th graders! Boomer kicked off the Mainers' Bookworms program, challenging the whole school to read through the beginning of April. It's a fun way to celebrate reading while connecting students to their hometown team!

We love highlighting the incredible work our SRTC students are doing beyond the classroom. From job sites to the classroom and back again, one of our Agriculture program students is proving that a career in the trades doesn't have to wait until graduation. Sanford's Got Talent did not disappoint last Friday! Nearly 20 acts, a packed house at Sanford Middle School, and an amazing night all around.
Congrats to all the finalists and every single student who got up on the stage.
What makes this show extra special is that it's completely student-run. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our students.

Margaret Chase Smith students in Ms. Combs' class recently got to celebrate all their hard work with a Cozy Cafe Day! Over the past 6 weeks, students worked toward reading a minimum of 400 minutes at home, and so many of them read even more than that!
As a reward, students got to come in wearing their comfy pajamas and spend the day at the "Cafe." They earned their cafe money by reading independently, reading with a friend, and making crafts throughout the day. 🎨📖
Such a fun way to recognize how much these kids have put into their reading this year. Way to go!

Last Friday, students at Carl J. Lamb Elementary enjoyed a special Mystery Reader event! Teachers, staff, admin, and parents volunteered their time to visit classrooms and read aloud to students for 20-minute sessions. Books were provided for any readers who needed them.
It was a wonderful way to bring the school community together around a love of reading. A big thank you to everyone who participated and made it such a memorable day for our kids!
