April is Autism Awareness Month, and Sanford School Department is proud to recognize it alongside our students, families, and community!
Throughout April, you'll spot our staff wearing special shirts highlighting acceptance as a show of support for all individuals impacted by autism. When you see them, know that it's a reminder of what we're all about: a community where every student belongs. 💙

Margaret Chase Smith Pre-K students have been exploring how plants and animals grow, diving into gardens from around the world, and discovering the magic that happens when a tiny seed becomes a plant.
One of our favorite moments? Welcoming families in to plant their very first seeds together.
We are also sharpening our rhyming and counting skills every day as we look ahead to an exciting milestone: Kindergarten! Our students are growing in so many ways, and we could not be more proud!

For the third year in a row, Sanford High School and SRTC opened their doors to welcome early childhood professionals from across Maine for the York County Early Childhood Coalition's Early Childhood Education Conference!

Congratulations to Sanford High School senior Leah Soucy, who has been awarded a scholarship from the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans! This is a prestigious honor recognizing students who demonstrate perseverance, integrity, and a commitment to higher education.
Leah will be heading to Colby College this fall as a psychology major, and she is bringing an incredible track record with her. As the varsity volleyball libero and team captain, she earned All State and All Conference honors and still found time to give back by coaching younger athletes.

On Saturday, April 11th, Carl J. Lamb Elementary was proud to host the second annual Maine Adaptive Music Summit, bringing together educators from across the region to share ideas and strategies for making music accessible to every student.
It was a full day of learning, meaningful conversations, and community, and we couldn't be prouder of the work our staff and the educators around us are doing to ensure every child has a place in music.

Big shoutout to the Sanford High School students who visited Sanford Middle School this morning! They took time out of their day to sit down with our rising 9th graders and share their firsthand experiences at SHS — real voices, real stories, and exactly the kind of peer connection that makes a difference. Thank you for helping pave the way!

This week, we celebrate our incredible assistant principals, the backbone of our schools. Thank you for your tireless dedication, your open doors, and your unwavering support of students, staff, and families. Happy National Assistant Principals Week!

What a Tuesday for the Sanford High School math team! Competing against 800+ students across 88 teams at the state math meet, the team finished 10th overall and 6th among all Class A schools. They also wrapped up the regular season 3rd in Pi-Cone South in the large schools division. Congratulations to these students who worked incredibly hard all season!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Carl J. Lamb's Storybook Spectacular earlier this week!

Sanford Middle School students in Diana Allen and Brock Sanborn's science class have been hard at work researching the world's biomes and the results are impressive!
From detailed tri-fold displays to handcrafted 3D models of sustainable dwellings, these young scientists put their creativity and critical thinking on full display.
Staff and students had the chance to stop by yesterday, ask questions, and even serve as judges, giving students a real-world presenting experience that goes beyond the classroom.
