The District 1 Honors Band and Chorus Festival scheduled for Saturday, March 4th at the Sanford Performing Arts Center has been cancelled due to the pending snowstorm.

Congratulations to Tucker Walker who qualified for the New England Indoor Track Championship on Saturday in Boston. Please wish Tucker good luck!

There was a packed house at the Sanford Performing Arts Center for the Spring Sing Concert on Wednesday, March 1st. The concert featured Sanford’s combined high, middle, and elementary school choruses.

During this morning's monthly assembly, students at Margaret Chase Smith School presented their February Food Collection to Reverend Susan from the Sanford Food Pantry. During February, each grade was challenged to collect 100 nonperishable items for the food pantry. The school donated a total of over 1,000 items! Way to go!


Congratulations to wrestlers James Blood and Canton Hill for qualifying for the New England Wrestling Championship. Please wish them good luck at the Championship this Friday and Saturday in Rhode Island.

The Academy of Business at SRTC is a two-year dual enrollment program that is designed to provide students with an opportunity to focus on these areas of business: Finance, Marketing, Management, Entrepreneurship and Computer Applications. Officer Michael "Tipper" Thornton, who has served the Sanford School Department for many years as a school resource officer and instructor of the Law Enforcement program at the Sanford Regional Technical Center, officially retired on Tuesday from the Sanford Police Department after 35 years of service. Reminder that any students interested in being considered for SRTC for next school year, must complete an online application by TOMORROW.
If you apply by the deadline, you will need to participate in a short interview which will take place on either 3/21 (Tuesday) or 3/22 (Wednesday) Interviews are scheduled by SRTC and communicated to applicants and teachers.

There was a bunch of media coverage at the Sanford Police Department yesterday afternoon for a press conference that identified the remains that were found during a construction site excavation in 2017. Sanford High School history teacher Paul Auger championed this case and had some of his students research the artifacts to try and get any information they could. The high school, middle school and elementary school choruses had a dress rehearsal during Spartan Time at the Performing Arts Center to prepare for tonight's Spring Sing Concert! Spring Sing starts at 6 p.m. tonight! Come out and support these stars.


The SHS 2023 Project Graduation team is working in collaboration with the Digital Design SRTC to offer computer skins and stickers to students and anyone with a Chromebook who's interested! Stickers are made to order, so keep that in mind if you're impatient. All funds will be going toward the Project Grad fund and benefiting the senior class.

5th graders at Sanford Middle School took a trip last to the Gulf of Maine Research Institute before February Vacation. They had a wonderful time learning how natural, social, and economic systems interact.
