Sanford Middle School

JMG students at Sanford Middle School received a grant on October 3rd to support their SnackDash initiative! This amazing program helps supply classrooms with snacks to keep our students fueled and focused throughout the day.
The grant was awarded by national nonprofit Explore. Act. Tell. (E.A.T.).

A huge shoutout to Alana Perez (now a freshman at Sanford High School) who applied for this grant last May while still at SMS. She went above and beyond, even creating and filming her own video submission on behalf of the JMG students. Her dedication and hard work truly paid off!

Whole grade-level lunches are in full swing at Sanford Middle School! This gives students the opportunity to enjoy time with their peers in larger table groups and build connections across the grade. Thank you, students, for showing positive
behavior and helping make this possible!

*Sources of Strength will be meeting this morning in the counseling classroom by the art room during Spartan Time.

*Cross Country will practice at the high school today from 2:30 to 4:00. Athletes will be dismissed at 2:00 to change and board a bus heading to the high school. All athletes will need to be picked up at the high school after practice.

*Dare to Dream has rehearsal until 330 this afternoon in the cafeteria. Cast and crew are reminded that this is a normal rehearsal, and all should attend. Also, a reminder that it ends at our normal time of 330. No student should attend unless they have transportation arranged promptly at 3:30.

*Student leadership will meet Tuesday afterschool in room 2217 until 3:40

STEAM team will meet this afternoon in the library.
Doctor Who club will be meeting today in Ms. Hanson's room.

Join us for our Safety Informational Night on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 6 PM at the Sanford Performing Arts Center!
Our Student Resource Officers and Central Office Administration will provide an important overview of school safety measures and protocols in place to protect our students.

Members of the Dare to Dream Jr cast and crew who have media day permission have rehearsal this afternoon until 4:00 in the cafeteria. If you have your slip today please bring it to rehearsal this afternoon. If you do not, you should plan on skipping rehearsal today. Please remember that if you have decided not to continue with the show, you should return your script to Mr. Bellefeuille, Ms. Crabtree, or the office today.

Picture Day for 7th & 8th grade, SEAL and Life Skills are tomorrow!

Jazz Band has begun being held Tuesday afternoons for those interested. It will begin at the end of the school day and goes until 3:45. Please see Mr. Morese or Mr. Hyssong with any questions!

Dear to Dream will have rehearsal this afternoon in the cafeteria until 3:30 pm. Casting crew are reminded that they must have transportation ready for pick up at 3:30 pm or permission to ride the late bus.

Sanford High School jazz students visited the middle school on Monday to perform and share their love of jazz with 7th and 8th graders. What an inspiring way to promote the middle school jazz band program!

Maine Through the Year Testing Schedule:
Grade 5
Grade 5 teachers will be communicating directly with students and families regarding testing schedule.

Grade 6
ELA: Monday, September 22
Math: Tuesday, September 23
Testing will take place during Blocks 1 & 2.

Grade 7
ELA: Thursday, September 25
Math: Friday, September 26
Testing will take place during Blocks 3 & 4.

Grade 8
ELA: Monday, September 29
Math: Tuesday, September 30
Testing will take place during Blocks 1 & 2.

Make-Up Testing:
ELA and Math teachers will be responsible for administering all make-up
assessments. The testing window closes on Friday, October 24.

🌟 Congratulations to Sanford Middle School's Diana Allen! She was honored at the Maine Department of Education Summit in August for receiving the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching - the nation's highest honor for K-12 science educators.
