Students visited the Sanford Fire Department, the Center for Wildlife, and the Wells and Sanford campuses of York County Community College, including the new First Responder Training Facility in Alfred.
They explored pathways in emergency services, environmental science, electrical work, and welding, getting hands-on exposure to careers they may never have considered before.
We're grateful to all the professionals and organizations who opened their doors to our students!

Thanks to the generosity of the Gerard and Gertrude Genest Charitable Trust, the Performing Arts Center has a brand new professional soundboard and the Middle School got a major audio upgrade too! Read the full story: https://www.sanford.org/article/2851587

Students rotated through four hands-on financial literacy sessions covering Managing My Money, Paying For My Needs and Wants, My Credit and Spending, and Planning For My Future Income, all led by generous community partners from Machias Savings Bank, Kennebunk Savings Bank, Atlantic Credit Union, Moody's Collision, Longfellow Hotel, and the Sanford Chamber of Commerce.

From detailed tri-fold displays to handcrafted 3D models of sustainable dwellings, these young scientists put their creativity and critical thinking on full display.
Staff and students had the chance to stop by yesterday, ask questions, and even serve as judges, giving students a real-world presenting experience that goes beyond the classroom.

Students attended workshops led by youth and organizations from across Maine working to make a positive impact in our state, visited a networking fair where they made meaningful connections related to their interests, and took part in hands-on leadership training sessions.
Our students were complimented by conference attendees and organizers for their professionalism, energy, and level of engagement. We are so proud of everything these students represented at this event!
A big thank you to nationally recognized youth advocate Robb Holla for visiting Sanford Middle School this morning and speaking with our 6th and 7th graders!
Robb delivered a presentation on the serious health risks of vaping and e-cigarette use, and the importance of making smart, healthy choices.
