Shoutout to Sophia O'Connell, Emma Higgins, and Mason Labbe for representing Sanford Middle School at the District 1 7th & 8th Grade Honors Festival!
Sophia and Mason brought their best to the Honors Band, and Emma knocked it out of the park in the Honors Chorus. Both ensembles put on a fantastic performance!

7th graders at Sanford Middle School just wrapped up a learning unit on the Holocaust, and what a way to finish it. Students spent the past several weeks studying the Holocaust in both social studies and ELA, and capped it all off with a live performance by Russell Kaback whose show, 25044: A Musical Story of Resilience, tells the true story of his grandfather's survival. It was moving, it was powerful, and our kids were fully present for every minute of it.

This week Sanford Middle School celebrated Great Kindness Challenge Week, and 6th grader Alice Giberti showed us what it truly means to spread positivity!
Alice came up with her own idea: she wrote uplifting messages for students in every grade level with notes saying "you matter," "keep going," "don't give up," and "think of the good things." Then she walked through our building, delivering these encouraging words to students.

Sanford Middle School's Ski Club is back for its fourth year and better than ever! Students are spending their winter days at Pleasant Mountain, whether they're first-timers learning the basics or experienced riders tackling challenging runs near the summit.
With dedicated adult volunteers, comprehensive safety measures, and four trips planned throughout the winter, the program is creating unforgettable experiences and building friendships that extend beyond the classroom.

🔨 Students are building the solution—literally!
When 7th graders came back from the Ecology School with ideas for better outdoor activities, teachers turned those ideas into action with student help!
Environmental Club and Mechanical Advantage Club members are constructing a storage shed that will house volleyball equipment, giant games, and activity totes for the whole school to enjoy during FLEX time.
From cutting lumber to installing siding, students are gaining real construction skills while creating something that will benefit Sanford Middle School for years to come. Read more about it here:

We're so proud of our Sanford Middle School and Sanford High School JMG students who volunteered with Toys for Tots!
On December 11th, our 7th graders teamed up with high school students to load in, count, and sort thousands of toys, getting everything organized for distribution.
On December 12th, our 8th graders helped families shop for toys, making the experience welcoming and special for everyone involved.
This annual volunteer effort is always a wonderful opportunity for our students to serve their community and gain perspective on the needs of their neighbors during the holiday season. Thank you to all our JMG students for your hard work.
