This is a reminder that today's dedication ceremony to name the Margaret Chase Smith Library after Sharon Remick begins at 3:30 pm. A formal ceremony will begin at 3:45 pm.Â

It was a perfect evening to serve over 375 students and families last evening with our ice cream social event. A huge thank you to our staff who scooped ice cream, the creative face painting designers and to the PTA members who donated supplies. This event was possible with the generous donation of Shaker Pond Ice Cream.

We hope to see you all this evening from 5:30-6:30 pm for the Ice Cream Social. This event is free, but students can purchase tickets to pie in the face or silly string a staff member at our end of year assembly in June. All proceeds will benefit our Student Engagement Clubs. It is a great day to be a coyote!

A group of dedicated fourth-grade girls at Margaret Chase Smith recently completed a heartwarming positivity project by decorating the school bathrooms with uplifting messages and colorful artwork. These inspiring students took it upon themselves to transform these everyday spaces into sources of encouragement and joy for their peers.
Armed with vinyl and a lot of enthusiasm, they adorned the walls with phrases like "You are amazing," "Believe in yourself," and "Spread kindness."

Our 2nd and 3rd grade vocalists hit the stage this evening! Great job coyotes!

What an incredible experience for our students last week! The talented Portland Symphony String Quartet musicians visited Carl J. Lamb, Sanford Pride, and Margaret Chase Smith schools on Thursday, May 9th.
The quartet brought the beloved story of "Swimmy" to life through music and interactive performances. Students listened as the violin, viola, cello, and bass created the sounds of the deep blue sea. They even got to join Swimmy's journey by moving their hands to the music!

Happy Mother's day to all of our MCS families! Check out our weekly newsletter with updates from last week during our busy Teacher Appreciation Week.
