Margaret Chase Smith third graders recently welcomed families to a special Learning Showcase highlighting their incredible work from their Roman Myths unit.
Students transformed into storytellers and scholars as they shared their knowledge of gods and goddesses from ancient Rome.
Throughout the cafeteria, families were able to see student writing and creative clay projects. We are so proud of their hard work and the way they showcased their learning with pride and enthusiasm.
Thank you to all the families who joined to celebrate this exciting afternoon of mythological mastery!

With smiles, growing independence, and lots of encouragement, students practiced routines like carrying trays, finding seats, and using quiet voices. Last Friday, our school was filled with color as students participated in Color for Kindness Spirit Day! Each grade level proudly wore their assigned color, creating a bright and joyful display throughout the building. More importantly, students focused on showing kindness through their words and actions, reminding us that even small acts can make a big difference. It was wonderful to see our school community come together to celebrate kindness in such a colorful way!

Students in Mrs. Werner's class worked together to create a compliment web as part of their SEL lesson with Mrs. Owen. Each student shared kind words with a classmate, watching the web grow as connections were made across the room. It was a powerful visual of how words can connect us, build each other up, and strengthen our coyote community.

Eureka! The student's in Ms. Nygren's class have been designing and sharing their inventions with their lab groups this week. Using feedback, they were able to add adjustments to make their inventions more intentional or realistic. We have some future designers in our future!

This week in kindergarten health class, students became body experts as they learned anatomy using pasta noodles with Mrs. Lovejoy! From arms to legs, our students built bodies, practiced new vocabulary, and showed off their creativity one noodle at a time. Who knew learning about bodies was so pasta-tively fun!

The students in Mrs. Hally's class are practicing R Controlled Vowels with a fun game of Follow the Path! You too can reinforce literacy skills at home to support our classroom lessons! Come check us out at our family Chasing Knowledge night next month!

Margaret Chase Smith 3rd and 4th graders are mastering fractions through hands-on learning! Students represented whole numbers as fractions, identified fractions greater than one, and explored equivalent fractions using multiplication. Recently, they brought math to life by measuring ingredients for fun recipes like Island Punch, Watermelon Munch, and Green Monster using colorful rice to visualize fractional amounts. Learning + doing = understanding!
