
During the month of December, Mrs. Curtis and Mr. Stone’s classes at Sanford Pride Elementary are sponsoring a Giving Tree to benefit families in the Pride School community. They are collecting warm clothes, winter essentials, toys, books and games to provide for those in need during the holiday season. A Christmas tree decorated with gift tags is located in the main office. Students may take home a gift tag and bring back the gift listed on the tag. Please do not take a tag if you’re unable to return a gift. All gifts must be returned to the school no later than Monday, December 19.


Reminder that MCS Pride PTA is hosting its Holiday Extravaganza party today from 5-6:30 p.m. at MCS school! The weather is rainy, but the event is indoors in the cafe and gym. We can't wait to see you!

Our own Dr. Morton Gold highlighted an enjoyable December night on Saturday by conducting the Strafford Wind Symphony as they played a piece he composed. “We Kindle These Lights” was composed by Dr. Gold to celebrate Hanukkah. Dr. Gold a longtime substitute teacher at the High School stole the show and received a standing ovation after he vigorously conducted the symphony. Nice work Dr. Gold! Time is running out to register for the upcoming Hybrid C.N.A. Orientation 12/12/22 (Orientation held live at SCAE 9am-11am)
The class (if you are accepted) is taught via zoom from Houlton, Maine and clinicals are taught locally at the end of the course.
At the mandatory live orientation you will do a CASAS assessment and complete an application.
If you are accepted into the course it will begin on 12/22.
Cost of the course is $1100 if you are income eligible you can apply to Goodwill Workforce Solutions and we will facilitate third-party billing.

Student Leadership at Sanford Middle School will be selling Candy Grams this week and next week. You have your choice of candy gram style and candy. Student grams are $1.00 each and teacher grams are $.50. We will be selling them in the main lobby by the cafeteria each morning from 7:20-7:40 this week.

Sanford High School is hosting the 23rd Annual Sportsmanship Summit tomorrow, December 6th. The SMAA has invited 17 league schools for a conference geared towards Sportsmanship and “Honoring the Game.” There will be four rotations of workshops tomorrow in the Competition Gym, PAC, Practice Gym, and Wrestling Room. They will be using these spaces from 8:45 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.

MCS students in art class have been busy building their artist skills while creating their own WOW (Wonderful Original Work of art). Students spent several weeks practicing art making techniques using various art media before beginning their WOW project!

Students at Sanford High School and Sanford Regional Technical Center signed #SanfordStrong and #SpartanStrong banners thanking local first responders today. The banners will be displayed at tonight’s Holly Daze Parade!




A member from the Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk visited Margaret Chase Smith School this morning during their monthly assembly. Margaret Chase Smith is having a school fundraiser this month to collect funds and pet supplies from their holiday wish list!


There is a Theater Club Meeting Tuesday, December 6th, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the SPAC. They will be having officer elections & giving out information regarding Shrek Auditions. If you cannot make it and want paperwork please see Mrs. Baker after the meeting in E212. SHREK Auditions are Tuesday, December 20th, from 2:30-6:00 p.m.

Rockin around the Christmas tree! We're here at the opening night of the 4th Annual Spree of Trees hosted by the Sanford Alumni Association. It's expected to be a huge turnout this year. The Spartan Times will have coverage of the event. Be sure to look out for their article next week!

Carl J. Lamb's first grade team reviewed the lunchroom procedures upon returning from Thanksgiving break. Having common language and common expectations is one way we show cooperation and improve our climate and culture in the process.


Today is the last day for high school seniors to register for the upcoming field trip to Southern Maine Community College and York County Community College. Registration is also open to juniors tomorrow, December 1st, if space allows. You can sign up in school counseling. Permission slips MUST be returned by Monday, December 5th. It costs $15 and includes transportation and lunch at SMCC. The bus leaves SHS at 8:15 a.m.
