Celebrate Homecoming 2023 with the Sanford High School Student Council at our parade on Alumni Boulevard! Mark your calendars for Friday, October 13th at 4 p.m., as we kick off the festivities at the tennis courts on Alumni Boulevard and conclude at the Gil Dionne softball field. The Homecoming Parade was a longstanding tradition at Sanford, and we have been fortunate to receive tremendous community support throughout the years. This year, we invite you to join us once again and witness the hard work and dedication of our talented students. All of our student floats will be designed around the theme of "Children's Storybooks." This promises to be a fantastic family event! Below is the lineup for the parade: Youth Sports Participating in the parade Marching (not riding on floats) Freshman Class Float Freshman Class Marching in the parade Sophomore Class Float Sophomores Marching in the parade Junior Class Float Junior Class Marching in the parade Senior Class Float Senior Class Marching in the Parade Marching Band - Marching To ensure that everyone can fully enjoy the parade, we kindly request spectators to park at the high school no later than 3:30 pm. This will allow ample time to secure a spot along the lively parade route on Alumni Boulevard. Please note that after 3:30 pm, Alumni Boulevard will be closed off until the conclusion of the parade. If you arrive later, we encourage you to park off campus and walk to the parade route. For easy access, all traffic will enter from the Main Street entrance as the Route 4 entrance will be closed to the public. Once the parade wraps up, Alumni Boulevard will reopen to the public, allowing for smooth traffic flow as we transition to the football game at 7 p.m. Don't miss out on this opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the spirit of Homecoming. Sanford High School’s marching band is in the Maine Band Directors Association Circuit. The schedule for the circuit consists of five regular season shows and a Maine Marching Band Finals. All shows are scheduled on Saturday nights. Sanford is hosting the Maine Marching Band Finals this year on Saturday, October 28. Margaret Chase Smith students were excited last Friday afternoon as Chase joined their lunch blocks for a visit. The students were challenged during the month of September to earn 150 acts of respect to add to Chase’s paw print. The students exceeded their goal with over 276 acts in just three weeks.

In honor of School Custodian Day, the Sanford School Department would like to recognize our custodial and maintenance staff's hard work over the summer to make our educational environment clean, safe, and inviting to everyone. The summer is actually the busiest time of the year for the custodial and maintenance crew because they have ten weeks to turn the buildings around and be ready for students and staff in the fall. They deep cleaned every area of our buildings, including washing and removing all the furniture from every room. They then cleaned the rooms from the top down, including lights, windows, and walls, and ended with refinishing the floors or washing the carpets. They also did minor facility repairs, light bulb replacements, and paint touch-ups. During the summer, they also have to attend to daily custodial needs with programs such as Extended School Year, Summer Food Service, and Summer Camps going on. They also created a new welcoming vestibule at Carl J. Lamb School with upgraded LED lights, a new ceiling, and an updated reception counter. Additionally, they painted and gave the entire lobby at the school a facelift. The maintenance team also spent a lot of time keeping the lawns at our schools at bay from the rainy summer. We shine the spotlight on our custodial and maintenance teams, who worked diligently behind the scenes to create an optimal learning environment for our students and staff. Their hard work and attention to detail make them vital to our school community.
