Third graders at Margaret Chase Smith Elementary delighted their family and friends with their learning showcase for the year this afternoon!
Students focused on information writing skills to prepare for the showcase and worked hard to organize their various topics into chapters.
Students also created introductions and conclusions, expanded their fact-telling by trying different writing strategies, and edited, revised, and published their writing into a book.
Friends and families gathered in the cafeteria to witness the results of their children's dedication and creativity. Each student proudly displayed their book, a compilation of knowledge, creativity, and newfound writing skills.

This is a reminder that local author Ashlee Ridlon will visit SCAE tomorrow, January 27th, from 10-11 a.m. to read her newest children’s book, Bad Butler! Each family will receive one free signed book, and additional books will be available to purchase. Free snacks will also be provided!

When it’s too cold to go outside, Carl J. Lamb Pre-K students bring in snow to paint and play with. They also created finger paint tracks to go along with their new book of the week, The Snowy Day!
