Sanford Middle School's JMG Program held its Sanford's Got Talent 2023 show on Friday, March 10th. The evening was split into two parts of performances from nearly 40 Sanford Middle School students. From the Sanford Performing Arts Center: Jazz at Lincoln Center's "Songs We Love" is a celebration of the history of American jazz — and its future. Sanford Performing Arts Center joins in that celebration on Saturday, April 1, when Jazz at Lincoln Center takes the stage at 7 p.m. Their stop in Sanford is part of a 47-city tour, from Los Angeles and Atlanta to Orono and Sanford. Last week, six of Sanford Middle School’s 7th and 8th grade band students had the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the District 1 Honors Band. These students auditioned for this ensemble back in October and spent January and February preparing for the festival. Unfortunately their performance on Saturday was snowed out, but they still had the opportunity to rehearse with 78 other students from 13 other area schools!

All SHS spring athletes please complete your registration on Family ID, if you have not already done so. Please have all of your paperwork to the athletic office before the start date of March 20th (pitchers and catchers) March 27th for all others. Unsure if your physical is current, please stop by the athletic office to find out.

Ms. Sawyer & Mrs. Cyr were presented with a thank you gift for their dedication to the Sanford Pride Elementary students during National School Social Work Week last week.

Last week, Mrs. Sturtevant's and Ms. Howard's students at Margaret Chase Smith had the opportunity to share their recent animal informational and "how to" writing pieces with other students within the building. These coyotes did a great job creating chapters to organize their information, adding labels to their illustrations as well as adding transition words to connect their steps.

Sanford Middle School Aquaponics program found out in February that their application for funding was awarded! The grant goals are to do some maintenance on the greenhouse, to expand the growing capacity of the aquaponics with new grow beds. Congratulations!
The class of 2026 is hosting a dodgeball tournament Thursday, March 16th at 2:30 PM in the high school gym. Parents, staff, students, and community members are encouraged to join and have fun!
