Benjamin Terril, a senior at Sanford High School, has been selected to receive the 2025 Principal's Award, Principal Tracy Gibson. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals' Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior's academic achievement and citizenship. "Throughout his years at Sanford High School, Benjamin has distinguished himself in the classroom, in the theater program, on the playing field, and as a leader in the school and the community," Principal Gibson noted in making the award. Benjamin, Principal Gibson and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at Jeff’s Catering on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of ten $1,000 scholarships in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost. The Principal's Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine's school administrators.

The event will focus on course selection options for incoming freshmen. The session will take place from 6:00-7:00 PM at the Sanford Performing Arts Center. Following the discussion, tours of the high school facilities will be available from 7:00-7:30 PM for students and their families. This event provides an opportunity for parents and guardians to learn about academic pathways and course offerings before their children begin high school in the fall.

Important Postseason Information: This Saturday, February 1st our Cheering team will be traveling to the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor to compete in the Class A Regional Cheering Competition. This follows up their 3rd place finish at the SMAA Cheering Competition on Saturday, January 25th. The team will take the mat around 5:20 pm. Finishing place will determine qualification to the State Championship the following weekend. Also this Saturday, February 1st, our Wrestling team will be hosting and competing in the MPA Class A Dual State Championship. The dual tournament will start at 10:00 am here at Sanford High School. 📣 Last night the Sanford High School girls' and boys' basketball teams honored six of our own SHS faculty veterans during a special Military Appreciation Night at our doubleheader against Noble. Both teams unveiled special uniforms to show their support. We are proud to recognize our faculty veterans: - Russell Clark - Raymond Demarrett - Chris Jeney - Peter O'Brien - Matt Petermann - Shaun Rowe The evening also included a 50/50 raffle benefiting the Travis Mills Foundation, supporting post-9/11 veterans and their families.
