Sanford Schools grade 4 students have been learning how to turn their strengths and interests into careers. Last month, The Finance Authority of Maine visited all grade 4 classrooms and completed an activity in which students identified what they liked to do, what they were good at, and what potential careers in the future they could do. Building upon that activity, all grade 4 students visited either the Southern Maine Aviation or Moody's Collision and learned about careers matching their interests. Students learned what careers required a high school diploma, internship, on-the-job training, or a college degree. Many thanks to FAME, Southern Maine Aviation, Moody's Collision, Sanford Elementary School Counselors, and administrators for making this possible.

Students in Mrs. Case's Kindergarten classroom at Sanford Pride Elementary were fortunate to be visited by one of their classmate's families, to teach the students about their Mexican culture and family traditions. They brought family heirlooms, clothing, and instruments. They played authentic music and demonstrated and taught the students dance steps. They also taught the students Spanish words and finished with a Spanish Bingo game. This was such a fun and meaningful way to wrap up their cultural celebration.
