Check out our Good News from 2nd grade-

Second grade students spent the months of February and March learning about African American history as a part of our Cultural Celebration. Each student chose someone they wanted to learn more about for a research project. This learning was displayed during our Spring Concert and Art Show night for families to enjoy.

We are wrapping up our Poetry Unit in Writing Workshop, and diving feet first into our Opinion unit. Ms. Leigh’s class sent their writing off to be published in a class book and Ms. McGuiggin’s class has been working hard to publish their poetry into a class poetry book.

Second graders are beginning their final science unit of the year. In this unit, we will be learning about plants, pollination, and seed dispersal. Mrs. Guilfoyle’s class will be welcoming a small worm farm into their class as a part of this unit.

We are looking forward to two special events coming up. At the end of May, we will welcome Sparks’ Ark to SPE to share their expertise on native animals. We will also be traveling to the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray for our end of the year field trip. Families, please be on the lookout for permission slips and volunteer forms.
