Bus 14 was in a minor traffic accident during the secondary run this afternoon. The bus will be running about 20 minutes late as a result.

Tomorrow is Friday - Remember to try to wear something red and white to show our Sanford Pride and Spartan school spirit.

The Sanford School Department wants to remind parents to renew their Free and Reduced Meal Applications before October 15th to avoid any break in eligibility. Paper applications are available by calling your child’s school or parents can use the new, secure online application available at: https://www.myschoolapps.com/ . We will begin in the gym at 5:30 - 5:45 for a brief overview of our school and questions and answers. Just a reminder that our first graders have their music concert tonight. The concert starts at 5:30 and students should arrive at 5:15 and go to their classrooms. It possible, it would be great if the students wore something colorful to match the theme of the concert. Our second grade music concert is also tonight. Their concert starts at 7:00 and students should arrive at 6:45 and go to their classrooms.

Good morning, tomorrow is our annual school Health Fair. Our cafeteria/gym is used the whole day to house some of the presenters. This means that students will be eating lunch in their classrooms. To accommodate lunch being eaten in the classrooms the menu for MCS has been changed to: WOW Sandwich, cheese stick, fish crackers, dragon punch, carrots and apple sauce.

Good afternoon, please be on the look out for an important letter from Superintendent Nelson that was sent home with your child. The letter updates everyone about the various school construction projects. The letter also announces an informational meeting about the state of the construction projects and grade level moves. The meeting is scheduled for May 22nd at 5:00 p.m. at Sanford Junior High School.

Boxes Wanted: Everyone is busy looking through their classrooms and preparing for the closing of MCS for a year. As a school we are looking to be packed up and prepared to move by June 24th. Our PTA has been fantastic in sending any sturdy boxes with hand holds and lids our way. They also provide staff with rolls of packing tape for Teacher Appreciation Week last week. This was just one of the many treats offered over the week, but the tape was very appreciated. However, we are running out of boxes to pack. It would be much appreciated if anyone could donate to us any sturdy boxes, with hand holds and covers or flaps that allow the boxes to be sealed. Thank you.

Just a reminder that next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. If you are looking for a way to appreciate your child's teacher, a personal note is always cherished. If you had a favorite teacher going through school and know how to contact him/her, I know they would love to hear from you too. Enjoy your weekend.

This is just a friendly reminder that our April Break starts tomorrow, April 12th. Students and staff return on Monday, April 22nd. Everyone here at Margaret Chase Smith School hopes everyone enjoys their time off.

Starting this Friday morning there will be concrete trucks arriving so that the floors to our addition can be poured. The trucks will start arriving at 7:30 a.m. This will probably cause some traffic delays. There will be workers from PC Construction to help control traffic into the school.
