I-Pads & Additional Resources Available for K-4 students on Friday, March 20th
Sanford Schools
Thursday, March 19, 2020
The following is a letter from Matt Nelson, Superintendent of Schools
This is an important message to let families of K-4 elementary students know that iPads and additional resources for learning will be available for pick up at all three elementary schools tomorrow, Friday, March 20th from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
At CJL and Willard School, parents will remain in their cars and provide the child’s name and classroom teacher for curbside pick-up. At Lafayette School, parents will be met at the front door.
The Sanford School Department is being proactive in putting technology in your child’s hands. Students’ iPads have many apps children may use to support the work that has been done in the classroom. The distance -learning document that accompanies the device focuses on additional school learning opportunities in the event that school closings extend beyond March 27th.
If you are unable to pick-up your child’s iPad and additional learning resources on Friday, please contact your elementary school’s main office on Monday during normal school hours to make arrangements to pick-up materials.
Sincerely,
Matt Nelson
Superintendent

Good afternoon families,
The Sanford School Department’s website has been updated with resources for families – check it out at http://sanfordme.apptegy.us/o/sanford-school-department/page/2020-health-updates.
We are very pleased with the first efforts that have been made with our learning packets as teachers have reported that many of you have been in close communication with them to maintain student learning. You may continue to reach all of your children’s teachers via email (first initial, last name @sanford.org) and some teachers are also using the ClassDojo App or Bloomz App for communication as well.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback as we continue to navigate this endeavour together. It takes a village and ours is a great one! We’ll do what we can to help!

Good morning, I received an electronic version of our flyer for Read Across America’s Spirit Week so I thought I’d put it here in case anyone needs it. Have fun celebrating your love of reading together with your families! We’re fostering growing rich reading lives as students and celebrating books with a variety of genres at school all week long. See the attached photo please. Thank you!

Last day to bring in kindness coins will be 2/28/2020

In the library, first graders made paper octopuses after reading the amazing nonfiction book INKY'S AMAZING ESCAPE: HOW A VERY SMART OCTOPUS FOUND HIS WAY HOME by Sy Montgomery.

Sprinkle kindness like confetti! It’s Kindness Week! Our Kindness Coin collection is off to a great start! Lafayette, Willard, and Carl J. Lamb are all collecting to spread kindness to one another. Our hope is to collect enough to be able to purchase and send over some small playground equipment to the other schools such as sand toys, hoola hoops, basketballs, kickballs, sleds, or jump ropes etc. The more that comes in, the more our students will be able to do for others in their community from their friends at Carl J. Lamb. Thank you for considering! Today we’re teaming up for kindness and wearing our favorite team apparel! Have a great day everyone!

Kindness Spirit Week at CJL... please see attached photo and have fun celebrating and spreading kindness in our community!
