There is a Girls Go Cyberstart in the PAC this morning to kick off this years challenge and explain how girls can get involved!! The goal of this is to empower girls to become the next leaders in cyber security and protect the web.
I am having a wonderful time as the MPAs representative at the Regional Drama Festival in Bonny Eagle. Hoping Sanford High School will be able to host this festival in the future!
Ann Hall’s Cooking for Life class is enjoying homemade tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. Many of the ingredients came from the backpack program and the food pantry.
February's counseling presentation for our juniors and seniors was presented by Donna Jenner from Mourning Parents ACT. She told her story of the day her teenage children were killed in a car accident. Her message about distracted driving was very powerful.
Jenna Daniels and Jed Russell are running a book group for Junior High and High School Math teachers. Visible Learning by John Hattie. The book used research that involved millions of students to identify the strategies that support student growth. The book study will continue throughout the spring.
This past Tuesday, some JMG students had the opportunity to visit the State House for a ceremony at the Hall of Flags where new data was announced supporting the success of JMG in schools across Maine. The Speaker of the House gave a presentation along with JMG President, Craig Larrabee, and other members of the House and Senate.
Sanford students received extra attention that day but getting a personal tour of the House of Representatives and Senate with Representative Hymanson. She also tried to get us in to meet the Governor but she was in a meeting (we did get a wave from her). Later in the day, students got a chance to sit in on a committee meeting with Representatives Mastraccio, getting to hear a bill being proposed and voted on.
The students said they felt "inspired" being there and really enjoyed. A very successful day overall!

Mrs. English is helping her classes understand chemistry through cooking. She uses The Science of Good Cooking book to help explain concepts like emulsifiers. What a great pathway connection
Andrea Cole offered a book group to high school teachers around incorporating technology into student assessments, based on the book Intention - Critical Creativity in the Classroom. She is looking forward to expanding the group into other schools as well.

The Sanford Regional Technical Center (SRTC) is hosting an OPEN HOUSE on Weds, 2/27 anytime between 6pm and 7:30pm. Come check out our brand new school (located at 100 Alumni Blvd, Sanford), visit any or all of our 20 programs and staff and learn about the enrollment process.

Today at the New England qualifier, Sol Demers defeated his opponents and will be representing the state of Maine at 220 pounds next weekend at the New England Championships! Congrats Sol!!!
SOL DEMERS WINS THE STATE TITLE AT 220 POUNDS IN QUADRUPLE OVERTIME!!!! Sol also won the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament as voted on by referees and coaches. Great job Sol! #SpartanPride
