The Sanford School Department wishes the community a happy Memorial Day. Today is a day to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and to also support the family members of those we have lost. Today and every day, we’re inspired by all who have served this country.

Sanford Schools grade 4 students have been learning how to turn their strengths and interests into careers. Last month, The Finance Authority of Maine visited all grade 4 classrooms and completed an activity in which students identified what they liked to do, what they were good at, and what potential careers in the future they could do. Building upon that activity, all grade 4 students visited either the Southern Maine Aviation or Moody's Collision and learned about careers matching their interests. Students learned what careers required a high school diploma, internship, on-the-job training, or a college degree. Many thanks to FAME, Southern Maine Aviation, Moody's Collision, Sanford Elementary School Counselors, and administrators for making this possible.

Dear Parents and Families: We had an unexpected lockdown today at Pride. One of our staff members experienced a medical emergency. The staff member was transported by ambulance and is receiving medical care. The students and staff did an excellent job during this emergency. Sincerely, Susan Inman, Principal
