Our coyotes are working hard this month completing acts of empathy! Every time a student shows an act of kindness, they add a heart sticker to hopefully grow the Grinch's heart three times larger!

Last week brought wonderful learning celebrations!
At Margaret Chase Smith Pre-K, our students wrapped up Unit 2 with a joyful Learning Celebration alongside their families. Children proudly shared their work, demonstrated new skills, and guided their grown-ups through hands-on activities from the unit. It was heartwarming to see families learning together and celebrating all the growth happening in Pre-K!
Meanwhile, Carl J. Lamb 3rd graders showcased their analytical skills during their Unit 1 writing celebration. Students selected a main character from the classic tale The Wind In The Willows and provided evidence for specific character traits. They did an excellent job demonstrating their understanding!

Margaret Chase Smith students are focusing on social skills in our upper elementary classrooms. In third grade this looks like thinking about how to include others using empathy and kindness.
Students are also thinking about how to grow their confidence in and out of school and with peers. In 4th grade they are talking about HOW we communicate. This means both our tone of voice and our body language.

Yesterday, our school community came together in many different ways to honor our veterans, and today we continue to celebrate and remember those who have served.
Carl J. Lamb Elementary hosted their 3rd Annual Veterans Day Celebration in the cafeteria, where each grade performed songs for the veterans in attendance.
Our talented Sanford Pride chorus students took their gift of music to Pinnacle Health and Rehab in Sanford, where they sang for veterans and brightened their day. These thoughtful students also created handmade cards and letters to show their appreciation and let our veterans know they are remembered and valued.
Margaret Chase Smith School welcomed veterans to their 4th Annual Breakfast with Veterans in the gymnasium.
Thank you to all the veterans who joined us yesterday and to all who have served!
