Congratulations to some of our February Mighty Cool Student Nominees! This month many of these students targeted our monthly theme of courage. Way to go!

The students in Ms. Brown's and Mrs. Paradis' 4th grade classrooms have been busy cracking the code as they try to ESCAPE from the American Revolution.

Thank you to our amazing PTA for supplying every 4th grade student with a Spartan t-shirt! The students have been learning all about various careers they can explore later in their education. Mrs. Spring McDermott was able to visit each class to provide some lessons as well as videos from high school students.

MCS School is closed today, Friday, February 12th, due to a heating issue. Enjoy your school vacation next week!

This afternoon our students and staff participated in a Heart Healthy Bingo. Organized by Ms. Tibbetts, Mr. Wilkins, and Mrs. Hallissey bingo cards were created with heart healthy activities such as a certain stretch or a certain exercise. As Mrs. Hallissey called out the activity via zoom, the students in all the classes would perform the activity. If the activity was on his/her bingo card it would be marked off. Once a child had "Bingo" he/she would come down to the gym for verification and if verified a prize could be chosen. This was a great school-wide event and will occur again tomorrow. Attached are just a sampling of the activities demonstrated by Ms. Tibbetts and Mr. Wilkins.

Mrs. Morrison shared that her first grade students are Word Detectives who have been hard at work using all they know. Check out their badges as they look for snap words in their reading and writing. First graders also used ALL they know about the Silent E to go on a word hunt in their books. Students also got to search around the classroom with their silent E letter and read CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words and then add a silent E making it a NEW word. They were great detectives and found lots of words that have a silent E at the end.

What do you do if it is snowing out and it is recess time? You build a snowman. Some students from Mrs. Goad's and Mrs. Grant's class did just that, built a snowman today.

Our 4th grade class's Unit of Study in reading had students researching a weather topic with a partner. Last week, the 4th grade students from Mrs. Carter's and Mrs. Holland's classes had the chance to share all that they have learned with their peers!

The students in first grade are busy writing reviews for their favorite reading book! We have some budding critics on our hands.

"Snow Excited" to share some of our participants in our January Family Challenge. Students were given a menu board of options to try new activities both indoors and outdoors. Throughout the month, students shared stories of their accomplishments and sent in pictures that are on display in our main hallway. Fan favorites were reading to a pet, creating snowflakes and playing a board game with a family member.
