Our 4th grade was able to visit the Gundalow Company in Portsmouth Monday and Tuesday as part of their CKLA unit on Treasure Island. They learned how to steer a gundalow, where merchants built warehouses, how the lumbermen used the natural resources in the area and the best way to tie knots. Thank you to the donors who helped fund this experience!

Our elementary students took over the Performing Arts Center this morning to watch the national tour of The Magic School Bus!

Check out some of our amazing talent who hit the stage tonight for our fourth annual Variety Show! They have been using their creativity and courage throughout the past month as we roll out our new theme and core value.

Important info for incoming Sanford Pre-K students!

CAMP MCS continues with students who brought in their stuffed animals they found in the wild. Teachers were "Hungry Like Bears" and enjoyed some box lunches to enjoy outside on this beautiful day.

CAMP MCS has started this week as we show our appreciation for our hard working teachers and staff! Students wore bandanas as we all hit the trails and the teachers enjoyed a trail mix station. Thank you to our PTA and families for organizing some fun!

We are so proud of these hard working coyotes who earned pawsitive office referrals or Mighty Cool Student awards this past week! Way to return from break with a bright attitude, strong work ethic and continuous improvement in your academics.

We are so grateful for our amazing cafeteria workers who feed our hungry coyotes twice a day! Happy Lunch Hero Day!

Margaret Chase Smith Pre-K students have been exploring how plants and animals grow, diving into gardens from around the world, and discovering the magic that happens when a tiny seed becomes a plant.
One of our favorite moments? Welcoming families in to plant their very first seeds together.
We are also sharpening our rhyming and counting skills every day as we look ahead to an exciting milestone: Kindergarten! Our students are growing in so many ways, and we could not be more proud!

Today we recognize our amazing Administrative Professionals', Ms. Malcolm and Ms. Hanson, for all of their hard work and dedication at MCS! They keep our front office running smoothly with love and attention!

Dear MCS Families,
I am writing to inform you that we conducted a brief shelter-in-place today that lasted approximately 10 minutes. During this time, students did an excellent job following safety protocols and remained calm and cooperative.
The shelter-in-place was implemented while the fire department checked our propane tanks. Once they confirmed everything was safe, students resumed their regular activities for the remainder of the day.
Thank you for your continued support. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Mrs. Hally's Title literacy students at Margaret Chase Smith had a reading challenge this March for a chance to earn lunch with Mrs. Hallissey and Ms. McGuckin, and they absolutely crushed it.
First and second graders set out to read 100 books this month. First grade finished with 121 books and second grade came in at 124. Way to go, readers!
Third and fourth graders had a different challenge: read for 20 minutes a day, 50 times total throughout March. Third grade hit 64 sessions and fourth grade came in at 62. Both grades blew past their goals!
To celebrate, students got to enjoy lunch together and play games while sharing their favorite books.
