Today on Custodial Appreciation Day, we celebrate our amazing Sanford School Department custodial, maintenance, and grounds team! 🎉 Their summer accomplishments include: Deep cleaning all schools Installing new doors at Sanford Middle School Adding climate control to Sanford Pride Elementary’s Library Playground upgrades at Margaret Chase Smith Elementary Improved entry heating at Carl J. Lamb Elementary Sound improvements at Sanford High School Taking on additional hours of sports field maintenance Despite challenges and last-minute changes, their flexibility and hard work ensured our schools are clean, safe, and improved for the new year! Our students are off to a great start with demonstrating our core values of being safe, being respectful and being responsible! So far we have given out close to 100 Pawsitive Office referrals for the month of September! Way to go coyotes!

On Tuesday, Margaret Chase Smith Elementary School buzzed with excitement as it kicked off its participation in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP). The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, a federally assisted initiative, provides free fresh fruits and vegetables to children at eligible elementary schools. This U.S. The Department of Agriculture program aims to improve children's overall diet and create healthier eating habits that impact their present and future well-being. Thanks to this new partnership, all 380 students at MCS are now invited to enjoy a daily fresh fruit or vegetable snack provided in their classrooms by the nutrition team throughout the entire school year. Want to cool down and have some fun with your classmates? Come join us this afternoon from 4:30-5:30 pm on the playground as the PTA provides us with popsicles. It is a great day to be a coyote!

Our kindergarten classes have started their KforMe units around families. They are learning about various cultures and how families vary with size and relatives. In centers, they learned about mixing paint colors, building homes and setting up a table for a family to eat a meal.

Event Reminder: Stuff the Bus School Supplies Distribution Date: Saturday, August 24th Location: Curtis Lake Church, Sanford Arrival times (by child's last name): A-G: 9am H-M: 10am N-Z: 11am (The only exception to this is if there are children in one family with multiple last names. You will then refer to the last name of your youngest, school aged child, to determine your arrival time. If you arrive with no children you will need to come at 11am) Bring: Index card per child with your name, child's name, and grade. No pre-registration needed. First come, first served. Come only at your designated time. Event is WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.

There will be a job fair at SCAE (Willard School, 668 Main St.) on Monday, August 12th, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. On-the-spot interviews are available for a variety of positions. We hope to see you there!
