Dear Parents and Guardians, Medications for students are not to be sent in students' backpacks. If a student needs medication at school, it is to be handed a parent/guardian directly to the nurse, administrator, or school secretary. Doctors' orders are needed and a pharmacy label needs to be affixed to the bottle with student's name. Cough drops are not allowed in elementary schools due to choking hazards. Here is the link to the policy. https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/356708/Proposed_and_Updated_Medication_Guidelines__2019.pdf. Regards, Nurse Amy

Good afternoon, Here is this week's CJL Family Newsletter: https://5il.co/2fwup This week is Read Across America Week (see inside for spirit week info). We'd like to say thank you to our social workers, Sydney Wolf and Devyn Webb, as we celebrate School Social Work Week. "School Social Workers are trained mental health professionals who can assist with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, positive behavioral support, academic, and classroom support, consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators as well as provide individual and group counseling/therapy. School social workers are instrumental in furthering the mission of the schools which is to provide a setting for teaching, learning, and for the attainment of competence and confidence. School social workers are hired by school districts to enhance the district's ability to meet its academic mission, especially where home, school and community collaboration is the key to achieving student success." (https://www.sswaa.org/school-social-work). Thank you, Ms. Wolf and Mrs. Webb!
