The fourth graders in Mrs. LaPointe’s class at Carl J. Lamb have been coding. They started with “unplugged” coding to learn about sequencing and creating loops. Students then moved to “block” coding on Code.org. Students wrote code by assembling blocks in sequence to make a character complete a task. So far they have helped collect acorns and they moved to helping Laurel collect treasure. Coding is a great skill for students to learn. Not only does it teach computer science skills it also teaches perseverance, creative thinking, and analytical thinking.
