Good morning, CJL Families, We sent out first day of school paperwork with the flu vaccine form with a QR code. We were informed that the QR codes on those forms are not working. We have new forms that will go home today with a note on the bottom that says, “Disregard the old form. Use this one.” The correct form will also be dated 9-4-2024 on the bottom. Sorry for any inconvenience.

The CJL PTA will be creating beautiful bundles of cornstalks (kindly donated by the Payeur Family) to help raise money for future activities and events for the Carl J. Lamb students, families, and staff. Cornstalk bundles cost $10. We accept cash or Venmo @CJL-PTA. If using Venmo, please specify that it's for cornstalks. Bundles can be picked up on Sunday, 9/22 between 8:00 and 10:30am. The school nurse will be at CJL's Open House tonight from 5-6pm. This will be the best time to drop any daily medications that students may be taking at school as well as emergency medication such as inhalers and epipens. Event Reminder: Stuff the Bus School Supplies
Distribution Date: Saturday, August 24th
Location: Curtis Lake Church, Sanford
Arrival times (by child's last name): A-G: 9am H-M: 10am N-Z: 11am (The only exception to this is if there are children in one family with multiple last names. You will then refer to the last name of your youngest, school aged child, to determine your arrival time. If you arrive with no children you will need to come at 11am)
Bring: Index card per child with your name, child's name, and grade. No pre-registration needed. First come, first served. Come only at your designated time. Event is WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.

Dear CJL Pre-K & K Families, At our Open House on Aug. 29th, we will have a school bus at our school from 5:00-6:00. PreK and K students will ride with their families on a practice run.
The practice run will include the drivers talking about procedures for bus stops and bus riding. I'd also like to invite you to a Playground Exploration event "Popsicles on the Playground" for Pre-K and K students, August 21st from 4:00-5:30pm to meet the teachers, classmates/families, join the PTA, explore the playground, and strengthen our sense of belonging to this wonderful school community. Good evening, This is to invite and encourage CJL Families to save the date to attend our Open House on August 29th from 5-6pm. This will be an opportunity to meet the teacher, tour the school, network with other families, and sign up for parent/teacher conferences that will be held in the evenings of Nov. 14th and 20th. The first day of school for grades 1-4 is Tuesday, Sept. 3rd. The first day of school for kindergarten is Wednesday, Sept. 4th and the first day for our incoming Pre-K students is Thursday, September 5th. Teachers and admin will mail home letters the week of August 5th - 9th to help answer questions about the start of the school year. The Sanford Summer Meals for Kids & Teens program returns on Monday, June 17th, providing free breakfast and lunch for youth 18 and under at multiple locations across the city.
No registration is required for this USDA-funded program that aims to ensure children have access to nutritious meals when school is out for summer break. Families can simply stop by any of the participating sites during the meal service times.

The Summer Meals for Kids & Teens program helps families stretch their food budgets while providing a free, convenient source of healthy meals for children during the summer months. All meals meet USDA nutritional guidelines.

Tomorrow is also the the last day of school for grades 1-4 students. This morning, the Class of 2024 received their caps and gowns and then took a trip down memory lane as they walked through the middle and elementary schools to bid farewell! Students and staff from each school filled the halls to give congratulations.

🧡Check-in begins no sooner than 8:30am in the field at CJL. There will be a check-in table by our inflatable rainbow.
🩵You may still register when you arrive on Saturday morning: $5 cash. We do have a limited amount of white t-shirts ($5) and goggles ($2) for sale.
💜There's T-shirt decorating and signing prior to the race if you have some time between checking in and the start of your race.
🩷Races will begin: 9:30am! Ice pops available for our racers, while supplies last.
🌈Don’t forget: white t-shirt, sunglasses or goggles, and clothes/sneakers that can get colorful!
