Good morning, Here is this week's CJL Family Newsletter. https://5il.co/272bu We hope to see our families at our PTA Trick or Treat Event this Thursday at 5:30pm. We'd like to thank our volunteers, donors, community partners, and PTA for seeing our playground project through. We're proud to announce that IT IS READY for our students to enjoy tomorrow!

GEAR Parent Network and the Sanford School Counseling Department are hosting an event called "Defusing Challenging Behaviors: How to Effectively De-Escalate Your Child," presented by Heather Williams, CFPS, Regional Parent Support Coordinator.
It will take place on November 2, 2023, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Pride School, in the library at 708 Main Street.
Participants are advised to register ahead of time by emailing bletourneau@sanford.org and to provide their first and last name and the age of the children they care for.
Handouts, a certificate of attendance, and PowerPoint slides will be provided at the workshop. The event aims to teach different techniques for defusing challenging behaviors in children.

At Carl J. Lamb, classrooms earn whole class rewards for following classroom procedures such as glow parties and stuffy day! Students usually bote with their teachers for what they want to work for.

Good morning, With this being Homecoming Week, we encourage our students and staff to show their Spartan colors all week in support of Sanford's fantastic students! In honor of School Custodian Day, the Sanford School Department would like to recognize our custodial and maintenance staff's hard work over the summer to make our educational environment clean, safe, and inviting to everyone.
The summer is actually the busiest time of the year for the custodial and maintenance crew because they have ten weeks to turn the buildings around and be ready for students and staff in the fall.
They deep cleaned every area of our buildings, including washing and removing all the furniture from every room. They then cleaned the rooms from the top down, including lights, windows, and walls, and ended with refinishing the floors or washing the carpets.
They also did minor facility repairs, light bulb replacements, and paint touch-ups.
During the summer, they also have to attend to daily custodial needs with programs such as Extended School Year, Summer Food Service, and Summer Camps going on.
They also created a new welcoming vestibule at Carl J. Lamb School with upgraded LED lights, a new ceiling, and an updated reception counter. Additionally, they painted and gave the entire lobby at the school a facelift.
The maintenance team also spent a lot of time keeping the lawns at our schools at bay from the rainy summer.
We shine the spotlight on our custodial and maintenance teams, who worked diligently behind the scenes to create an optimal learning environment for our students and staff.
Their hard work and attention to detail make them vital to our school community.

Good morning CJL Families, Exciting news! We're beginning this week to have maintenance done on the drainage of our back playground and the dismantling of a large piece of playground equipment that was installed when the Carl J. Lamb opened in 1990. That structure will soon be replaced with a brand new play structure and we're looking for community volunteers to help be a part of this history which was made possible by the CJL PTA community donors, volunteers, and families, Sanford Schools Legacy Foundation, the Gerard and Gertrude Genest Charitable Trust, and Sanford School Department. Please check us out on Facebook at CJL PTA to sign up for this great event taking place on Oct. 14th! Check out our school's family newsletter for the Week of Sept. 18th, 2023 too! https://5il.co/2509o We've got a lot of fun about to happen that you don't want to miss!

Good afternoon CJL families and friends, Let's follow SMS's lead for Frommie and his family. Chace Fromwiller is a CJL alumni. "We are encouraging that students and staff wear blue tomorrow to show support for the Fromwiller family. He has continued to inspire all of us with his courage and positivity through his battle with DIPG (childhood cancer). #Frommiestrong"

Good afternoon CJL Families, We'd like to say thank you to our PTA, volunteers, and donors for sending in popsicles and snacks this week. Remember to send your student to school with a water bottle every day please. Included in our weekly newsletter this week are some photos from the last six days of school. We're proud of our opening to this school year! Our students are doing a fantastic job listening and following directions. They're trying their best! As their parents and guardians, you should feel proud too! It's an honor and privilege to teach your students! Check out our Bloomz post and our the News Section of this app for more news and photos. Have a fantastic week!

Hi CJL Families, Please see the attached infographic for this week’s newsletter from the principal. It’s going to feel like mid-summer this week. Please send a water bottle and a change of clothes every day. We look forward to seeing all our students back tomorrow and to welcoming our Pre-K students for their first day! Happy Labor Day! (If the infographic doesn't show for you, it will also be available on our website / app under the News Section and it's on Bloomz.)

We'd love it if you held children's hands in the parking lot too! Due to limited parking, we encourage and thank you in advance to have the drop off and pick up lines move along quickly so others may pull in. It's why we stagger times a bit. Once they begin, Pre-K and K will have parent pick up at 3:00. Happy first day of school to all our grade 1-4 students today! See you soon!

Thanks for an amazing turnout at Open House last night! Parent drop off and breakfast (free for all students) begins at 8am. Class begins at 8:25. This year our parent pick up line will be formed beneath our overhang at 3:05 for grades 1 & 2, 3:10 for grades 3 & 4. Older siblings will be dismissed at the younger siblings time. Everyone must use crosswalks in the bus loop. We'd love it if you held children's hands in the parking lot too!
