Homecoming week is well underway, and the Sanford community is invited to join the celebration on Friday! The evening will begin with this year’s Homecoming parade, followed by a block party and the Homecoming football game. See below for details about each event.
Homecoming Parade
Friday, September 25
Sanford High School
Parade begins at 4:15 p.m.
Parking: Free parking is available in all SHS parking lots. Wheelchair-accessible parking will be available at Alumni Stadium.

*Restrooms will be available at Alumni Stadium.
A note about the location: Sanford High School and Sanford Regional Technical Center are located in the same building. Depending on your navigation app, you may see either name listed for the location.
Spectators are encouraged to arrive 15-30 minutes early to find parking and choose a spot along the parade route. Entering campus through the Route 4 entrance is recommended. Once the parade begins, traffic will be blocked off for the duration of the parade. Those arriving after the parade begins are encouraged to park off campus and walk to the route.
This year’s parade is expected to last approximately 20-30 minutes, following a new half-mile route intended to make parking and viewing easier. Spectators may watch from any point along the route, which begins at the back of Sanford High School, loops around the school’s parking lots and front entrance, and finishes near the greenhouse on the side of the building. See the image above for details. Please be mindful of those using wheelchairs and strollers when choosing parking and a place to stand.
After the Parade… A Community Block Party!
The celebration doesn’t end when the parade does! SHS will host a community block party following the parade, giving families and community members a chance to stick around and enjoy the festivities without needing to find parking again for the Homecoming football game.
The block party begins at 5:00 p.m. and will feature a Kona Ice truck, donation-based face painting courtesy of the SHS National Honor Society, and, weather permitting, inflatables for children. SHS food concessions will open at 5:30 p.m. and will accept cash or card.
Homecoming Football Game
At 6:00 p.m., the public is invited to line the field for a human tunnel as the Sanford Spartans football team runs onto the field. Kickoff for the game is at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens. Cash and card are accepted.
The community is also encouraged to stay for halftime, when SHS will award the Spirit Stick to the winning grade and crown the Homecoming Court!
Our Sanford Spartans have put countless hours of preparation into this year’s Homecoming, and we hope the community will come out to celebrate with them. Come enjoy the floats, performances, food, and festivities—and help us cheer on our students as we celebrate Homecoming together!
