Sanford Regional Technical Center student Connor Wilcox won the gold medal in Electrical Construction Wiring at the 2026 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference, finishing first among 45 competitors from across the country.
Wilcox, a home-schooled student from the Massabesic area, represented both SRTC and the State of Maine after winning gold at the state level.
Wilcox was one of six SRTC students who qualified for nationals and competed in Atlanta. The team of Amelia Rice (Sanford) and Reese Bentley (Noble) placed 20th of 27 entries in Audio Production, Mair Clarke (York) finished 22nd of 36 in Advertising Design, and the team of Braeden Landry and Morgan Bailey (both of Sanford) took 15th of 35 in Digital Cinema Production.
The SkillsUSA Championships bring together state gold medalists from all 50 states to compete in hands-on skill and leadership contests.
We are extremely proud of Connor and every member of our SRTC contingent for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding representation of Sanford Regional Technical Center on the national stage.
Congratulations, Connor, and congratulations to all of our SkillsUSA competitors!
