Students Give Back Through Sneaker Drive Service Learning Project

This spring, students across all three of Sanford's elementary schools took part in a meaningful service learning project.

As part of a school-wide Sneaker Drive that ran throughout March and April, students came together to sort and organize 41 pairs of new and gently used sneakers, ranging from child size 10 to youth size 7.5.

That's enough to put a new pair of sneakers on the feet of two full classrooms of kids!

The project was initiated by Leah Marks and students at SPE, with Family Liaison Marisa Stam facilitating the effort at MCS. When asked how they felt after completing the project, the students summed it up perfectly: "Amazing!" "Mighty!" and our personal favorite, "Need to wash my hands!"

A big thank you to the students and staff who made this project a success, and to everyone across the district who donated. Your generosity will make a real difference for kids in our community.
