Sanford Middle School Celebrates the Great Kindness Challenge

Sanford Middle School recently wrapped up a wonderful week of kindness. Students and staff participated in the Great Kindness Challenge, a national movement that empowers students to perform as many random acts of kindness as possible throughout the week.

At the heart of the challenge are interactive checklists distributed to every student, serving as a guide for performing acts of kindness throughout the week. At the end of the week, students turned their completed lists in to their homeroom teachers, who tallied up the results. The class with the highest number of acts of kindness in each grade was rewarded with a well-deserved pizza party!

The checklists are designed to emphasize compassion, acceptance, and respect,  building a positive school climate and inspiring social-emotional growth. Our goal is simple: make kindness the norm.

We are thrilled to share that Sanford Middle School completed an incredible 3,306 random acts of kindness in just one week. Every grade level rose to the occasion, with students across 5th through 8th grade collectively logging hundreds of acts of kindness each. A special shoutout goes to 8th grade, whose winning class has claimed the top spot for several years running — a true testament to the culture of kindness our school community has built.
