Women of a Certain Age invited to SPAC

SANFORD — What started as a fun idea among friends has grown into a national comedy sensation that's coming to Sanford Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17.

Created by veteran comedian Carole Montgomery, Women of a Certain Age Comedy (originally Funny Women of a Certain Age) made history as the first stand-up special to feature an all-female lineup over 50—quickly becoming Showtime’s highest-rated comedy special of the year. Since then, it’s spun into two more hit specials, sold-out tours, and a devoted nationwide following.

In an industry that too often overlooks women over 50, WOACA flips the script. These bold, brilliant comedians — icons like Fran Drescher, Caroline Rhea, Janeane Garofalo, Wendy Liebman, Marsha Warfield, and more —bring decades of experience, razor-sharp wit, and zero apologies to the stage. As Montgomery puts it, “If you don’t like me, you’ll like someone else … the show is fun for all ages.” From outrageous stories to unapologetic truth-telling, this is comedy that proves funny only gets
better with age. NextTribe calls it “female comics over 50 who are as hilarious as ever — but have fewer chances to show their stuff.”

Please note this show contains mature themes, colorful language, and candid discussions about bodies, aging, and all the “fun” that comes with it—shared in sometimes graphic (and always hilarious) detail. Not
suitable for children, unless you’re ready to explain things you’d rather not. Extremely suitable for women of a certain age, their partners, and anyone who enjoys a good laugh about life’s later chapters.

Tickets are $30-$46, with discounts for subscribers, students, seniors and military veterans. For information, visitsanfordpac.orgor call the box office at (207) 206-1126, or visit in person Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
