Disney’s Dare to Dream JR. is performing at Sanford Middle School on Friday at 6:30 PM and Saturday at 1:30 PM. This fun and lighthearted musical revue, designed for middle school-aged performers, is a theatrical celebration of music, creativity, and the dreams that live inside us all. This cast includes more than 30 students and an all student stage crew, led by Director Adam Bellefeuille and Costume Designer & Assistant Director Sara Crabtree.
“For many years, school would start and the next day, students would ask if we could start the theatre season for the spring. We knew that starting this in the fall would be too long a time to wait, so our revue was born in the fall of 2022. We are so proud of the growth that we see each year in six short weeks of production and can’t wait to showcase that growth for the Sanford Community,” said Bellefeuille.
Not only was the fall show created to provide students with a theater outlet in the first part of the school year, but it serves as the official reveal of the Spring Show, which the Troupe will perform at the Sanford Performing Arts Center in early May. “The students literally beg us each year to tell them which musical will be our spring production. This year, Adam and I have cooked up a little bit of a different way to do that at the end of each of the Dare to Dream performers,” added Crabtree.
Dare to Dream JR. is a vibrant musical revue that weaves together timeless classics, contemporary favorites, and reimagined medleys to celebrate a century of Disney magic. An eager group of young trainees attend their first day at a fictional Walt Disney Imagineering Studio, where they must first discover their own dreams in order to help others achieve theirs. The team works together to explore the power of dreams to unite, inspire, and make anything possible. Featuring songs from both classic and contemporary Disney favorites, including Tangled, The Lion King, Toy Story, The Princess and the Frog, and Encanto, this musical revue is jam-packed with new twists on classic songs and a powerful message that will surprise and delight Disney lovers of all ages.
Tickets may be purchased at the Sanford Middle School Office during regular school hours or at the door in cash only. They are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students & seniors.
