Last week, Sanford High School had the privilege of hosting the District 1 Honors Jazz Festival on Thursday and Friday. Several talented students participated in this prestigious event, including Tim McGee, Jason Gastonguay, Alessandra Castro, Quang Lam, and Elijah Baker.
These musicians had the valuable opportunity to work with guest conductors and connect with other highly skilled musicians from across the district. Their hard work culminated in an impressive concert on Friday evening that showcased their talents and represented our school admirably.
On Saturday, SHS Winter Percussion ensemble traveled to Dartmouth High School in Massachusetts to compete in the New England Scholastic Band Association's New England Percussion Finals. In a strong showing against top regional talent, Sanford Indoor Percussion placed 6th in the Percussion Marching Scholastic Regional A Class.
Following their performance, students had the enriching experience of watching some of the most accomplished percussion and wind groups in the northeastern United States, providing inspiration and learning opportunities for future performances.
Two weeks ago, Sanford High School hosted the Maine State Percussion and Guard Finals, where our music program continued to demonstrate excellence. Our Winter Percussion ensemble earned a prestigious Gold Medal, while our Winter Guard received an impressive Silver Medal.
