Sanford Regional Technical Center Names Devenny Brickett as Student of the Year

SANFORD, ME - The Sanford Regional Technical Center (SRTC) proudly announces Devenny Brickett, a junior at Massabesic High School, as its Student of the Year.  Enrolled in the Health Occupations program, Devenny has distinguished herself through academic excellence, leadership, community service, and exemplary clinical skills while working toward her CNA license.

Devenny's accomplishments extend far beyond the classroom.  As the current Class President for the Class of 2026 and Vice President of the Student Council, she demonstrates natural leadership abilities among her peers.  Her academic achievements have earned her membership in both the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society, reflecting her commitment to scholarly excellence.

"I wholeheartedly recommend Devenny for student of the year," says her Health Occupations instructor, Jenna Holmes.  "Her punctuality, kindness, time management, and strong clinical skills make her an exemplary candidate who has contributed greatly to the class.  I am confident that she will continue to thrive and will make a meaningful impact as she moves through her journey to become a healthcare professional."

Devenny's dedication to community service is equally impressive, having accumulated over 200 community service hours during her high school career.  She maintains this commitment while excelling as a two-sport athlete in indoor track and softball, and pursuing her passion as a competitive dancer.

Already First Aid and CPR certified, Devenny aims to become a Registered Nurse, with a particular interest in palliative care.  Her passion for working with elderly residents shines through in her own words: "Being able to connect with residents, show up for them consistently, and hopefully brighten their day has always been part of my plan."

Her compassionate approach to healthcare is evident in her philosophy of patient care.  "I look forward to going and trying to lift the residents' spirits.  Whether that's cracking a joke, complimenting an outfit, or roaming the halls with baby dolls, I strive to make connections and build relationships with each resident," Devenny explains.  "I want people to feel loved, cared for, and dignified no matter what stage of life they are in or what path they choose."

Devenny values the practical education she has received at SRTC, noting that the real-world, hands-on experience has deepened her understanding of the healthcare industry.  This practical knowledge, combined with her natural empathy and strong work ethic, positions her well for future success.

"Ultimately, I want to make a difference in people's lives," says Devenny, a sentiment that perfectly encapsulates why she has been selected as this year's outstanding student.  Devenny is the daughter of Alfred and KyleAnn Brickett of Lyman.

The Sanford Regional Technical Center provides Career and Technical Education to students from several area high schools, preparing them for both higher education and direct entry into the workforce.  Devenny Brickett exemplifies the center's mission of fostering technical skills, leadership, and community engagement.   She, along with students from the other 26 CTE schools in the State, will be honored at the MACTE Student of the Year Banquet held on

Saturday, May 3rd at 11:30am at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor.
