The Sanford High School Peer Helpers organized their annual Thanksgiving basket drive, providing 52 families with holiday meals this season. The initiative brought together local businesses and the school community in a collaborative effort to support Sanford families.
The Sanford Chamber of Commerce continued their vital support by donating turkeys for the baskets. Additional financial backing came from several local businesses, including Marc Motors and Eastern Propane. SHS clubs, sports teams, and staff members also contributed to the cause.
Students demonstrated remarkable teamwork and dedication throughout the project, from coordinating donations to assembling the complete holiday meal baskets. Their efforts ensure dozens of local families can enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
The Peer Helpers group continues to meet weekly on Friday mornings in the small cafe, welcoming all SHS students to participate in this and other community service activities throughout the year. They also provide new student tours and lunch buddies. If you have questions about the group or are interested in joining, email Beth Letourneau at bletourneau@sanford.org.
