Sanford High School’s Performing Arts Center hosted an evening of artistic recognition on Monday, November 25th, beginning with the Tri-M Music Honor Society induction ceremony, followed by the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) induction.
The evening opened with Hailey Francoeur welcoming attendees to the Tri-M ceremony, followed by Rebecca Horton performing the National Anthem. Twelve new members were inducted into Tri-M, having been "carefully selected on the basis of scholarship, character, leadership and service," recognizing their commitment to musical excellence and community engagement.
The ceremony also celebrated students selected for prestigious regional and state ensembles. Multiple students were chosen for the MMEA District 1 Honors Festival, where they will work with renowned conductors at Noble High School in January.
Additionally, Hope Abbott-Eaton, Calleigh Bill, Lillian Poto and Meredith Schoenherr were selected for the MMEA All-State ensembles, while Quang Lam earned the distinction of being selected for Jazz All-State.
Following the music honors, NAHS sponsor Margaret Warner welcomed families to the art portion of the evening, noting that "Art is a universal language that speaks when words fall short, it is a bridge between cultures, a mirror of our emotions and a window into our collective human experience."
NAHS Chapter President Elsie Gendron led the art honor society ceremony alongside fellow officers Daviney Sar (Vice President), Hannah Morgan, and Corinna Vitale. "On behalf of our officer board and our entire chapter, we want to thank each and every one of you for being with us tonight," Gendron shared during the ceremony.
The evening concluded with an invitation to Open Studios and performances in the Agora and Red Wing, allowing families to experience student artistry firsthand.
