Sanford High School and Regional Technical Center is set to host its annual Career and College Fair on Thursday, November 7th, in Partners Bank Gymnasium, bringing together 80 organizations offering students a comprehensive look at their post-graduation possibilities.
The event represents the full spectrum of opportunities available to students. Whether students are considering higher education, technical training, immediate career entry, or military service, the Career and College Fair offers direct access to recruiters, admissions officers, and industry professionals who can help shape their future paths.
The lineup showcases a broad range of education pathways, from traditional universities, including the University of Maine system campuses, to specialized institutions such as Maine Maritime Academy, Maine College of Art, and The Landing School of Boatbuilding and Design.
The career opportunities span multiple industries, with manufacturing and engineering represented by industry leaders Bath Iron Works - General Dynamics, Pratt and Whitney, and TURBOCAM International.
The healthcare industry brings MaineHealth, York Hospital, and Huntington Commons, while construction and trades feature Cianbro, Richard Moody & Sons Construction, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Public service opportunities will be presented by Sanford Fire & Rescue, Sanford Police Department, and the City of Portsmouth, alongside financial institutions like Kennebunk Savings and Atlantic Federal Credit Union. Central Maine Power Company and Casco Bay Steel Structures will represent energy and infrastructure industries.
All branches of the Armed Services will be represented, including programs like Army ROTC and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Apprenticeship Program.
To help students maximize this opportunity, SRTC Career Planning Coordinator Jenn Bartlett and Extended Learning Opportunities Coordinator Sally Quarles have provided all SRTC instructors and SHS advisories to use with their students. The activity is designed to prepare the students ahead of time for the fair.
“The fair is a great time for students to practice introducing themselves and asking questions,” Bartlett said. “We want to help them make the most of this opportunity.”
The fair will operate in scheduled waves: SRTC First Year Students from 9:00-9:45 am, followed by SHS Juniors during Spartan Time from 10:00-10:30 am, SHS Seniors from 10:30-11:00 am, and SRTC Second Year Students from 11:10-12:00 pm.
