Sanford Regional Technical Center students in the Information Technologies and Networking Program spent time in SRTC’s Culinary Arts Program installing its first Point of Sale (POS) system.

The new system will allow students working in the front of house of the cafe to send orders directly to the kitchen, process payments, manage the online reservation system, and gain valuable customer feedback.

Access to this technology will give them an advantage when they enter the restaurant industry, where most establishments will have a similar set-up.

Streamlining communication between those working front of house and students working the line and preparing meals will be beneficial for the management production of the SRTC Cafe.

This restaurant is operated by the culinary students at the Sanford Regional Technical Center as an integral part of their educational and training experience. It is open for breakfast and lunch to the public most Wednesdays and Thursdays from February to early May, when school is in session. Reservations are required.
