Sanford High School’s Senior Awards Night was an evening of recognition and celebration for the Class of 2023.
Principal Matt Petermann kicked off the event with some opening remarks, expressing his gratitude and congratulating the seniors on their four years.
“I cannot thank you all enough, seniors. It’s been four outstanding years, and I congratulate you all, and godspeed as you move onto the future,” Petermann said.
The ceremony continued with the presentation of Scholastic awards, Special awards, and 2023 Scholarships. Students and community members were recognized for their academic achievements, community service, and unique talents.
A special thank you to many staff members who presented awards, including Kristie Baker, Maggie Warner, Liz White, Josh Clement, Kailee Corbeth, Michael Kane, Shane O’Connell, Cheryl Gifford, Matthew LaBerge, Hailey Francoeur, Renee Bresnahan, Kelly Tibbetts, and Zach Lemelin.
Special Awards included the President’s Education Awards, American Citizenship Awards, Advanced Placement Capstone, Yearbook Dedication, Silver Spartan Award, SMAA Athletic Citizenship Award, Mitchell Scholarship, Perfect Attendance, Maine Principals Association, Salutatorian Medallion, Valedictorian Medallion, School Department Recognition, and Military Recognition.
Principal Petermann concluded the night with announcing the 2023 scholarship award winners.
