Margaret Chase Smith School receives tree from Central Maine Power to celebrate Maine Arbor Week

Central Maine Power (CMP) representative Katie Manende Hall  visited Sally Tinkham’s 4th-grade class Margaret Chase Smith School to donate a tree Tuesday afternoon in honor of Maine Arbor Week.

The generous act of CMP is a wonderful contribution to the school community and a positive step towards promoting environmental sustainability.

Manende Hall also gave a lesson to the students on vegetation management.

By learning about the different types of vegetation and how they grow, students could appreciate the importance of ecosystems and the role that plants play in maintaining balance.

The students were attentive and willing to offer a helping hand while Katie Manende Hall worked to plant the donated tree along the side of the school.

Maine Arbor Week runs from May 15-21. The week is dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of forest and shade trees and safely enjoy the beauty and abundance that Maine has to offer.
