Representatives from Pratt & Whitney visited Sanford High School and Technical Center on Friday.

They presented opportunities available at Pratt & Whitey and included details for seniors regarding the hiring process and next steps.

They also broke down the types of shifts the company offers, such as second, third, and weekend shifts.

They also spoke about the benefits that come with jobs at the company.

SHS alumni Ian Kelly now works at Pratt & Whitney and spoke to seniors about his process getting started. He was recruited right out of high school and started on the floor at Pratt & Whitney three days after he graduated.

He started on the floor and was a machine operator, he then got involved in the apprentice program, which was a four-year program, and now he is a layout inspector and CMM programmer with Pratt & Whitney.

While in high school, Kelly won a silver medal in Technical Computer Applications at the 2015 SkillsUSA Conference in Bangor. Read more about it here.

During the second session of their presentation, Pratt & Whitney discussed immediate job openings for seniors.
