During lunch on Wednesday, March 1st, the Civil Rights Team at Sanford High School celebrated the Special Olympics Spread the Word Inclusion Day.

The day was started in 2009 with the belief that “grassroots action could end the discrimination and exclusion faced by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and replace it with inclusion.”

Everyone deserves to be celebrated and included for who they are.

Students and staff came and pledged their support by signing a banner with messages such as

  • Sitting next to someone at lunch
  • Giving everyone a voice
  • Being brake to take action and lead the change
  • Standing up for ourselves and others

And much more!

Thank you to all who pledged their support!
