Camp

During the week of June 21st, SRTC hosted it’s 2nd Annual MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMP.

Approximately 100 students rising into grades 6-8 from all 8 partner school districts participated in a four day camp. They joined one of the five programs offered to learn the following: Academy of Business (learn the basics of entrepreneurship by developing an ice cream business), Law Enforcement (Explore Maine criminal laws, practice defusing techniques through scenarios), STEM A (exposure to building trades, electrical wiring and precision manufacturing with everything from blueprint reading, safety and cool hands-on projects), STEM B (intro to auto maintenance, mig welding and auto collision repair to include tours of our shops and a local field trip), Video Production (learn about different roles in TV and film production, discuss short videos and make some of their own).

Students had a great time, especially on the final day when the Academy of Business students shared their week-long project to envision an ice cream business and needed us to sample their product!

Many thanks to the staff and students of SRTC who served as teachers, camp counselors, coordinators and more.  We are grateful for the Maine Department of Education for the grant that allowed us to offer this camp free of charge to students.
