COVID-19 UPDATE

March 22, 2021

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff and Families,

This letter is to inform you that two individuals associated with Sanford High School (SHS) and Sanford Regional Technical Center (SRTC) tested positive for COVID-19 recently. The individual at SHS was last in school on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 and school representatives are currently notifying all of their known close contacts. The individual at SRTC was also last in school on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 but no contact tracing is necessary.

Per protocol, all identified close contacts are required to quarantine for 10 days from their last exposure to a positive individual. A negative test result does not get an individual out of quarantine. Please monitor yourself/your student for signs and symptoms and talk to a health care provider if you have any symptoms.  Please stay home if you are sick.

The staffing shortage at Ledgemere Transportation remains ongoing due to COVID-19 so we are once again unable to provide bus transportation on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 for Sanford High School and Sanford Middle School students on busses 5, 9 and 12 only. We will continue to hold in person learning at SHS and SMS so we ask that impacted families find alternate transportation if possible. All students who are unable to secure alternate transportation are expected to work remotely following their normal remote learning schedule.

Transportation will be provided for all students in grades K-4 although there will be a one hour delay in morning pick up and afternoon drop off for students on Busses 5, 9 and 12.

As always, thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these COVID-19 related issues.

 Sincerely,

 Matt Nelson, Superintendent of Schools
