News from the SRTC Career Planning Center

News from Jen Bartlett, Career Planning Coordinator

Seniors: All seniors are asked to complete the short SRTC “future plans” senior survey by February 10th. Your teacher will provide the link. This very brief survey will help SRTC know what your current plans are for after high school and how we can assist you. The information will be used by SRTC only. To help us reach our goal of 100% participation, the MELMAC foundation is sponsoring a raffle to thank-you for completing this survey by February 10th. We will be giving away ten $50 Amazon gift cards and ten $50 Gas gift cards!

An additional “Final plans” senior survey will be shared in May, with another round of gift cards. The extra exciting news is that any senior who completes both of these brief surveys will be also entered into a raffle to win one of two Grand Prizes … an iPad mini! This will also be sponsored by the MELMAC foundation. Winners will be drawn in early June.

Seniors…. thinking of going to college? Have you submitted your application to the college? The next step is to apply for financial aid.

Be sure to complete and submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by MARCH 1st (or earlier for some individual colleges deadlines) to receive the best financial aid. Here’s the link:  https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

Need help completing the FAFSA? Contact the staff at FAME (Finance Authority of Maine) for free help and use their online tips: https://www.famemaine.com/education/topics/filing-the-fafsa/  or contact Jen Bartlett at SRTC (jbartlett@sanford.org) for assistance. Help is available!

When you have completed and submitted the FAFSA, let me know!  All SRTC seniors who complete their FAFSA by March 1st will receive a $25 Hannaford Stores gift card!!

Parents or students can email me to let me know you’ve submitted it (jbartlett@sanford.org) and the student will receive this gift card after the submission is verified. This extra incentive for SRTC students to complete your financial aid form (by March 1st) is sponsored by the MELMAC educational foundation grant, which provides additional funding to help our students prepare for their futures. SRTC is so fortunate to continue to be a MELMAC grant recipient!
