Thinking of attending college next year? It's time to complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). SHS and SRTC are offering a free FAFSA Help Night (with FAME, the Finance Authority of Maine) on Wednesday, January 15th, from 6-7:30 at SHS/SRTC in the SRTC Career Center. Students must come with a parent/guardian. The student and parent each must set up their FSA ID (Federal Student Aid ID, or account) 4-7 days ahead of filing the FAFSA. Here's the website to start your accounts: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch. Do this prior to attending the help night so that you can complete your FAFSA that evening.

Filling out the FAFSA will help you see how much any of the colleges you've applied to will cost and allow you to access aid, including the free Maine community college grant. It is the best way to explore your options.
