SANFORD, Maine – The Sanford School Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Tracy Gibson as the new Principal of Sanford High School, effective July 22, 2024.
During our selection process, which included interviews with four highly qualified candidates, Tracy emerged as the top choice for the position of Principal at Sanford High School. The selection committee was impressed by the strong pool of applicants, but Ms. Gibson's qualifications, experience, and passion for the school's future set her apart as the best fit for our community.
Gibson returns to Sanford High School after seven years as an administrator with Biddeford High School. She will succeed Amanda Doyle, who left to become the Assistant Superintendent in RSU 57.
"Tracy's educational background combined with her practical experiences are a great fit for Sanford High School. We are excited for Tracy to bring her passion for education, leadership skills, and commitment to student success back to Sanford," said Matt Nelson, Superintendent of Sanford Schools.
As the Director of the Alternate Pathway Center, Truancy/StudentServices Coordinator and Curriculum Team Administrator, Gibson honed her skills in managing comprehensive educational programs and leading initiatives that prioritize the academic and social well-being of students. She brings a deep understanding of the multifaceted needs of students and the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive school environment. In her various roles, Gibson has collaborated effectively with stakeholders and built strong relationships with students, staff, families and community partners to meet the diverse needs of students. Gibson started her educational career as a classroom teacher in Sanford and holds a Bachelor of Science from Simmons College and a Master of Education from the University of New England.
"I am honored to be back at Sanford High School and look forward to working with the students, staff, and community," said Gibson. "Together, we will build on the school's successes and strive for even greater achievements. I am dedicated to promoting academic rigor, emotional well-being, and the development of essential life skills in our students."
The Sanford School Department would like to congratulate Tracy Gibson on her new position and welcome her back to Sanford.
