Annual Pinning Ceremony Honors Sanford's Newly Minted Nursing Assistants

Sanford Regional Technical Center held its annual Health Occupations Pinning Ceremony in the Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, May 28th.

The ceremony recognized students who have completed the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and celebrated the commitment, compassion, and dedication required to care for others in the healthcare field.

AM and PM students from the classrooms of instructors Diane Emerson Holm and Ellen Barry were honored at the event.

"All the SRTC Health Occupations students received their CNA pins," Barry said. "The pin signifies their commitment to caring for others, commitment to a life of integrity, and their dedication to medicine."

SRTC Director Matt Petermann provided opening remarks, commending the students being pinned as well as their instructors for their hard work and perseverance.

One by one, each student was called forward to receive their pin from a selected family member or loved one, symbolizing their achievement and entry into the noble profession of nursing care.

Lisa Benevento, a representative from Pinnacle Health and Rehab in Sanford, served as the guest speaker. Her words resonated with the newly minted CNAs: "You will have challenges, and as you solve these challenges, know that you will be changing the world one patient at a time, and one day at a time."

As CNAs, these students will be on the frontlines of healthcare, providing essential services and compassionate care to patients in need.
