Today's 7th Grade Girls & Boys Game Time @ Acton has been moved up because of the impending snow storm. The bus will leave SMS at 2:00. 7th Grade Girls game will be at 2:45 followed by the boys game at 4:00.

Today is a WHITE Day!
Good morning Sanford Middle School. Your Civil Rights Team would like to share with you some fun facts about the Lunar New Year, the most observed holiday on the planet. It is celebrated in conjunction with the moon cycles and falls anywhere between January 21st and February 20th. In some countries we are entering the year of the rabbit.
- Lunar New Year is Celebrated by many countries in eastern Asia and cities around the world with large Asian populations
- It revolves around the cycles of the moon whereas our calendar revolves around the cycles of the sun. The new year falls every 12 moon cycles.
- Unlike our new years celebrations, the lunar new year is celebrated with family.
- The traditions vary by country as does the length of the celebration ranging from days to up to two weeks.
- Most countries see the new year as a new beginning. Many traditions revolve around letting go of the past and manifesting good luck and prosperity for the future.
- This year’s Lunar New Year began last Sunday, January 22nd.

*It’s Kindness and Compassion Month! Let’s all try to be NICE to one another! We CHALLENGE you to try ONE new way of showing compassion and including everyone each week through January. This week’s challenge is to….Choose Growth Mindset. What are you struggling with right now? What is difficult? Don’t give up! Think it through…”I’m not good at (blank)…YET but I can try (blank) to get better. Email your school counselor something you’re struggling with but also working on improving.
